my brother and sister recently got those new Heelys (shoes with the wheel at the heel) can those have a downside to them? like bad for posture, safety issues? I have a son who is about to turn 6 and he wants them really bad so I need some feedback please

Essentially, they piss people off at schools, stores, and malls. Though I do not see any postural effects, they are very annoying and disruptive to people around those who wear them. Also they are considered rude, especially when children feel it gives them permission to swoop past and cut people off.
They have been banned from several nearby malls and schools for being safety hazards, and rude. Children can fall and hurt themselves very easily.

just like everything else, there are pros and cons w/ having Heelys. My brother got them and almost immediately started walking wierd. walking w/ Heelys is like walking w/ high heels. another pro that is also a con is the fact that you can roll around anywhere. this can be fun but sometimes annoying to you or other people. if you give your son the Heelys, tell him that he can only do it where there is a wide space and there are not that many people. make sure he knows how to skate properly before he starts rollling around too.

There are always safety issues when it comes to shoes with wheels. Just make sure they don't overuse them. I have not heard about any issues with posture. Just make sure safety first. http://www.cheap-heelys.com has the Heelys pads and wheels.

well first of all they are fun not dangers only if u dont now how to use them i have some took 30mins to learn how to use them. sence ur son is 6 i would segsest the double wheel, wheels at first and not the regular ones.i would just say it hurts ur feet if u wear them to long like 12hours nonstop with the wheels, but with the sole saver no problem. :) and also they are very fun! and in style right now. and and dont let him roll fast than he can run!

while heelys are fun and not much of a threat seeing as they only have on rollor on each shoe, they can be sort of unsafe. like say, for instance, you are running really fast in them, and you accidently start skating and crash. not good. so i'd say they are ok to wear for fun, but not on an everyday basis.

I think they are dangerous, its just like rollerskating, you can fall. it states right on the box to wear protection such as wrist guards and elbow pads. I'm not even gonna go into the annoying kids at the mall part of it

i hate them because there are those ignorant little kids that roll everywhere in the mall when you are trying walk around. it gets on my nerves so much
