Did all the slaves getting off the boat from Africa have dark skin?

I have a friend (who is black) who suggested today that all black people have white in them because of white masters raping slaves, blah blah blah. That is why some of us are "blue black" while others are just brown, while still others are almost white.

But isn't reasonable to think that black people came in many shades BEFORE slavery. I think may friend is a little brainwashed if he think MOST black people have white in them. sure some do, but not most.

And what about native american's? do MOST black people have white in them.

Native Americans came in and still are all shades. It is a common myth to view Natives as depicted in the media.

There is a long history between African American people and Native Americans. In fact many African American people do have native ancestry:

Native Americans and African Americans share several points in history. For example: during the civil rights movements led by African Americans such as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Malcom X, and the Black Panther Party - Native people were having their own movement, the American Indian Movement (the Black Panthers actually helped this movement).

Native people also helped to free slaves. Since Native people were considered a soviergn nation, if an African American person lived on a reservation they could not be taken back as a slave for White people. Unfortunately I have heard that some Natives had slaves themselves, although I don't know much of the history behind this. I do know that they helped.

Because of the shared points in history many African American people "got with" Native people and had babies. Many many African American people have Native blood for these reasons.

All blacks from Africa where dark skinned, but no
not all blacks are white decent even though a lot of
black female slaves were raped by whites. Some
blacks have native american descent. Look up the
history of the freedmen in OKlahoma. Also by the
same token many whites have black ancestory but
they are too ignorant to realize that when the slave
owners fathered children to black slave women
some of the children had white skin like their baby's
daddy. During this time some of the slave's where
made free due to the fact that they were his offspring.
Some escaped slavery as being white. These white
slave offspring often married into white society for
obvious reasons, better lifestyle and a chance for
education. They never tell you that, but it is well
documented. If you go by the old racist view one
drop of black blood then you are black then we have
a lot of american white people yelling the n word that
are n-words themselves. Let the yahoo reviewers suck
on that!!

I understand how your feel, and I'm african and I can tell about us. That is true that the white Master rapped some of the slaves. But those black people who look blues is not because they are born like that, is mostly because of the weather because for example sudanese are blue because it's very hot in their country, but the african people whose countries are below the equator are either brown or light skinned.

People living on the African continent also have a wide variety of skin tones. Far too much variety too be accounted for by intermingling (aka being raped by) white colonists. Ethnographic accounts from the time of contact support this in their different descriptions of different peoples.
