In this age, people are almost brainwashed by the impact that the media place on its audience through constant advertisements that are surreal. Is the media really responsible for the increase of plastic surgery to achieve the "perfect" look?

OH definitely.. Some good examples of what media can do is the Spice girls, Brittany Spears (no talent whiny brats who made a whole generation of young girls feel like they should be slutty women to feel good about them selves)
The media has so much power when it comes to making the mass public believe what is good and what is bad.. They completely influence the way people believe they should look in order to be liked by everyone and feel good about themselves..
How can a women feel good about the way she looks when she is compared to all these fake actress they see in movies and commercials everyday.. The people in these movies and commercials do not even look half as good in real like, once make up is taken off and lights are removed.. These images that we portray to our young impressionable females is creating generations of people who desperately want to change the way they look as this will make everything better.. IF only I could look like Rachel on friends then I would have such good buddies like her and have so much fun!! lalala What crap! what you look like does make life easier but trying to change the way you look is not going to make you better looking only more like a wanna be.

The media affects the way you think if you're susceptible. If you're pretty sure of what you are, where you stand and you want then that shouldn't bother you.Media is responsible in a way but people have to wake up and realize that at the end the day models/celebrities are people. They go to the bathroom and look a mess when they wake up.Media is the media...you cant stop what they're doing. But you can prevent from falling into their circle of the perfect life/appearance.Media plays a big part into it but people should be happy with what they are.
