My family has voted Democrat since immigrating here in the late 19th century.
Yes, I suffered through the Regean and Bush Sr. years, as well as the eight year witch hunt the Repugnicans put the Clinton's through.
I also had to listen to associates proudly boast of the pugnacity and "give 'em Hell" attitude of the current chief executive.
However, in this last election, my party has been vindicated. People have shown they are tired of adhering to the dogmatic dribble uttered by the self-rightious right, and have used there brain to decide that there needs to be a change in the direction our government is taking our country; domestically as well as internationally.
Thus, the corruption scandals of Duke Cunningham and company; the moral turpitude scandals of Foley, Haggard and others; and the irresponsible sending of troops into an unsafe environment; where the troops can either be killed for not being aggressive, or be courtmartialed for being too aggressive; and there being no viable plan of action; with a possible war against Iran brewing, as well; these issues did not influence my vote for democratic candidates.
It reinforced and vindicated my voting for Democratic candidates.

I voted Democrat because Republicans stand for big business and not for social concerns or the middle class. I am also opposed to the war, and to the "Bible thumping" Republicans' sense of ethics.
After Nixon, give me a break!

It failed in 2004, but apparently, "We're Not Him" was an effective platform in 2006.
