If that is the case then all three of mine would have been born early ... could that be the reason for all of my preterm labours?
The only thing I know about cucumbers is that they can lower blood pressure:

"High Blood Pressure? Cucumber Can Help You Cool Down

When people who participated in the DASH (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension) Study added foods high in potassium, magnesium and fiber, their blood pressure dropped to healthier levels. Those people in the study who ate a diet rich in these compounds in addition to the other foods on this diet (low fat dairy foods, seafood, lean meat and poultry) lowered their blood pressure by 5.5 points (systolic) over 3.0 points (diastolic). Don't I wish! I was 41 weeks with my daughter and one of the foods I CRAVED was cucumbers, I ate a whole one at least once a day for 6 months! My labor had to be induced and then I had to have an emegency C-section.

I ate cucumbers all the time (especially in vinegar) since I was 8 weeks pregnant and am now 16 weeks and 5 days. They are good for you as they contain alot of water. I do not think there is anything to that rumor at all.

I've never heard of cucumbers getting things going, but I can tell you what worked for me. My doctor gave me a "vigorous" exam on Friday. My husband and I had sex later that night, and my daughter was born at 6:00PM the next day. Good luck to you!

There is nothing to that rumor. I had a wicked cucumber craving with my second baby (which I indulged) and it never started labor. We had to try all sorts of other things.

Only way a cucumber will help induce labor is if you use it to have an orgasm.

Nope, absolutely not true.

Eggplant, on the other hand, does have a reputation for helping labor to get going. No guarantee - nothing is - but it can't hurt to try.

I have never heard that one. If that were true, then eating pickles wouldn't be a good thing during pregnancy and I ate A LOT of pickles.
