BECAUSE ITS A FORM OF DISCRIMINATION ALSO MOST PEOPLE DONT REALIZE WHAT YOU SAID ABOUT THE NORTHERN SHIPS BRINGING THE SLAVES TO AMERICA THEY ASSUME BECAUSE MOST BUT NOT ALL OF THE SLAVES WORKED IN THE COTTON FIELDS,TOBACCO FIELDS AND OF COURSE COOKING ,CLEANING ETC. BUT SOME WERE SLAVES TO NORTHERN FAMILIES ALSO.IT WAS WRONG NO MATTER WHERE IT HAPPENED OR WHY.BUT A PERSON STILL HAS THE RIGHT TO HONOR WHERE THEY GREW UP BY FLYING A CONFEDERATE FLAG IF THEY WISH.THAT IS THEIR RIGHT ALSO .

For the majority of that time there was no Confederate flag and before 1776 it was legal under the English flag. So, like less than 5% of that time it was legal under the Confederate flag. The Confederate flag stands for the states who WANTED to keep slavery legal.

It is the perception of the group as a whole. While not all southern people owned slaves, it is widely agreed that many did. While some northern people may have been for slavery, it is also agreed that most did not approve of slavery.

As for your statement about northern ships bringing in slaves, I would like to know the source of the statement.

The flag of the U.S. may have stood for something at one time, but during the civil war, there were too sides; one for slavery, and one against it. To some people, the rebel flag stands for people who still believe in slavery, or are just racist. But not all people see the rebel flag that way. Some people feel like rebels against the system, and have adopted the 'rebel' flag to express those feelings.

You can thank Lincoln for starters. Next, look to the ignorant racists who used it as their banner. That is the KKK, Neo-Nazi and the like.

If you are wondering why I say Lincoln it is simple. When he introduced the emancipation proclamation he changed the view on the war. Instead of being about state rights it became a moral war. This kept support from coming to the C.S.A. By the way do not take my word for it check out the document for yourself. I hope you notice also that he "freed" slaves only in states that were in contention of the Union. So one has to ask why he did not free the slaves in the border state? Because they would have fled the Union.

Because of the slaves were liberated under the American flag, and people that flew the confederate flag were staunchly opposed to their liberation! duh???

the confederate flag stands for rebellion and hatred. Lets get real my friend.

Only traitors and morons who believe in the concept of race would fly that rag. They do not know any better. Like people who have never worked in the sun calling themselves "rednecks." Or, people who have never ridden a horse calling themselves "Cowboys." Or, people who fly confederate flags calling themselves "Americans." It is a bunch of poser bullshit. These people are all fake. What's worse is they lack the faculty for actual thought.
