There are a lot of different ways to deal with this problem however I hope you will my suggestions first. First only drink caffeine in the morning like one cup of coffee. Decaffeinated tea and soft drinks. Try to get enough exercise but don't wait until bedtime. If possible allow yourself plenty of time to fall asleep by going in your room and reading for awhile. Leave the television off it is stimulating. Have you ever tried sleepytime tea it's herbal tea that is decaffeinated and it really helps me. If this all fails melatonin which is a vitamin will help. Also benadryl (makes me feel groggy in the morning), Simply Sleep is sold over the counter the problem I have with these is once you take them all the time it is hard to sleep without them. warm milk has been proven to help. Happy sleeping.

get your health checked. is the room dark? are you stressed? get a good blood work up..... see a good doctor. I have hepatitis C and a side is we don't sleep well and lots of us use meds for sleep. First see what stress you are under, or FIRST see a real good doctor and/or psychiatrist..... not meaning to insult. it is a real awful problem I know i have it. Good luck you need your sleep. if you are not a druggie and your system has been really clean, make the room very dark and take melatonin. hard to know when don't know your age. as we age our melatonin making decreases....... so if you are a clean non druggie person and not totally stressed, make room dark dark dark and take melatonin supplement. if you have other problems, see a doctor MD , Internist or Psychiatrist. no harm no foul. a big problem these days in America. AND all over the world. Best of Luck to you. I see a shrink and take meds. Also drinking alcohol makes your sleeping ability a big problem.

This is your body telling you there is something wrong.

There are so many different things that could cause this ranging from the trivial to the serious - its important to go and see your GP/medic.

Keep a diary of when you eat, drink (especially coffee) smoke and when you sleep, for a week, and take that with you to the doctor, that will help greatly in diagnosis.

Good luck with your sleeping - remember its not the lack of sleep which is particularly bad for you, its the worrying about it.

The artificial light from the computer screen (and even your phone) can reduce melatonin (the sleep hormone) production in your body. Try taking a melatonin suppliment. I take 1mg melatonin on nights that I can't sleep and it works like a charm! The only downfall to taking melatonin is that if you take it every night your body will get used to it and you will have to increase how much you take. I try to only take it occasionally. I also love hot tea containing camomile to help me relax. Sleepy Time Tea with honey is wonderful. :)

Poor you ,try making your bedroom a very calm place to be in don't have anything to do with work or any unfinished projects in there. when you get into bed read to take your mind off the day to day stresses.keep your alcohol down to just one glass or less keep away from caffeine ,and have a story tape or CD to listen to at the side of the bed, that works wonders for me don't play anything to exciting I play the same ones over and over and know the first few lines off by heart when I wake in the night I quickly switch them back on and fall straight back to sleep. Try it ,hope it works for you as well .
