You know folks like Susan Sarandon, Tim Robbins, Sean Penn, Rosie O'Donnel, the Dixie Chicks. etc.

Most of them are bleeding heart liberals who use their access to the media and their ability to be out in the public eye to promote their own personal / political agendas. When I go to a concert, for example, I go to hear the music, not to hear someone's view on world events and their politics.
I think out of your list, bluedevil, Rosie bugs me the most. She is brash, rude and crude when she gets on her soapbox.
By the way honey, I am proud of your views and I support you all the way -- you are my toughguy.

Sean Penn isn't all that polically aware. The Dixie Chicks are quite courageous, and they've got the right idea, but they're not overly savvy politically... and that's fine.
Rosie O'Donnell is a moron.
Sarandon and Robbins are extremely educated politically, and I would agree with most of their views.

My opinion is that I don't want to know their opinion. John Melloncamp used to be a favorite of mine, now I can't listen to him because of the liberal crap. Steve Earle, same thing. Jane Fonda, Susan Sarandon, Sean Penn, etc. have made me sick for years.
Rosie is a whole different matter. Hypocrite to the max. Preach gun control (ie: no guns) while your own bodyguards carry fully automatic weapons. I have no respect for her, and it has nothing to do with her sexual choices.

The Dixie Chicks are great. Last Album going triple platinum. It really makes no difference what their political opinion is. If they agree with my opinion all the better but if they don't I won't stop listening. I wouldn't let someones stand on an issue stop me from enjoying good music. I don't agree with Toby Keith but I enjoy his tunes.

They are people just like me and have the same right to express there views as I do even if they are wrong. I do not give them any more weight than my pot head neighbor. I also have the right to not buy there products ,(moves, DVDS) I also don't have to watch them on TV or listen to them on the radio!

There are more than enough rightys to counter the leftys you put forward.
Tom Selleck, Arnold Schwarzenegger, everyone else in country music. . . the list goes on and on. . .
So I'd say it is pretty well balanced, regardless of what Rush tells you to think.

I can not stand them. They have been given a soap box to stand on because of their fame. They think they are wiser than us poor dumb folk and their elitist attitudes are nausiating. If this people had their way, they'd be telling us how to think and live our lives.
They need to just shut up and sing!

I am glad they have the guts to stand up for what they believe. Everyone should stand up. However, their influence is greater, because of where the American population places celebrities' influence.

I enjoy their talents on the screen or on tv, but just because they have a more visable pulpit to preach from doesn't make their opinion any more important than mine or yours.

the Dixie Chicks are the only ones you mentioned that has any sort of credibility.
I don't like their music but
I bought their CD the other day
because they nailed GW Bush right on the head back in 2003
they were right about Bush and I was wrong
I apologize for wrongly judging them
Bush is a disgrace to all Texans and Americans
America is now considered a ROGUE STATE
who operates outside the rule of law
