Unless he has passed an 8 pound kidney stone that's been growing for the past nine months... there really is no comparison.

No women that has given birth wants to hear a man say that! But I will have to say I have 2 boys and a third baby on the way, and I just recently passed kidney stones several months in a row. And let me tell you, it was HORRIBLE, the pain was at least equivalent to giving birth. I was on Percoset for about a week and even that didn't completely stop the pain. But on the other hand how can a man compare it to something he has never done??
BTW both my boys were born completely natural and drug free. Every one has different pain levels.

You have to consider the size of a man's penis--it isn't meant to expand to the extent that our's must.
I think until someone can experience both, he cannot say whether one is worse than the other.
Maybe, If I saw my husband pass a kidney stone, then I might have a better answer.... But I don't think that your husband is totally wrong in thinking this. It is an interesting question, though.

I think you would be surprised at how painful a kidney stone can really be.
My cousin had one and Id say it probably could be compared to an easy child birth you know...not a real painful one but a minor one.
I think men underestimate women's ability to endure pain
But a kidney stone is no joy ride either

neither one has happened to me i have seen each one happed they are different kind of pains birth it is harder for the minutes u are having birth so it it extreamly painfull too. kidney stones drags out for awhile and also depends on the number or kidney stones or kids. But I think Kidney stone is more painful cause it is drug out and the pain is like half of birth pain. oh and also hi MeggieR husband and get better!!!!also it is different for guys when there passing kidney stones we have a small hole for the stone to go through you girls like have a tunnel!!

I think it is comparable:
1. A man's urethra is NOT designed to stretch to unnatural limits. (well, man or woman's)
2. A man's urethra doesn't stretch at all... Neither does a woman's
3. Passing anything out of an urethra that isn't liquid will be some aweful pain.
4. Compare it to passing a kidney stone through a woman's urethra
5. I have given birth naturally, but I would not want to pass a kidney stone through something that isn't designed to stretch at all...

I've never had a kidney stone, so I couldn't say for sure. I would think the pain would be a different way. If a person cut of a finger, you can might say it could be more painful. I just think there are different kinds of pain, and in childbirth, it goes away. Kidney stones can take awhile to pass. I think the jury is still out on that one.

He's an idiot. I have had 3 children (2 pregnancies) and I have passed a kidney stone. Kidney stones, even though very painful, feel nothing like giving birth. Tell him giving birth is like passing a kidney stone that is almost 2 feet wide and weighs almost 10 pounds. Maybe he will get the point.

Your husband is correct sorry , Acute renal colic (kidney stones) is described as one of the worst types of pain that a patient can suffer. They can range in size from a grain of sand to a grapefruit . Unlike women , men just don't develop gradually the ability to accommodate the expulsion of an object of such size . A man's penis will not dilate as a women's vagina . Imagine yourself giving birth to a 25 pound baby without any dilation of the vagina . So it's a much more painful situation for a man .
