Some of the possible problems are, pirate DVD, downloading too much rubbish from the web, not enough space on the video card or a problem in the software.

If you have less than 512MB of memory (say 256MB), you probably have too little. The more memory you have, the faster and better your computer will work. You will also be able to work on several applications at the same time without any problem. Of course maybe the DVD is just bad.

I like what Fred said. But what I have discovered is set up your hard disk drives in a RAID form when the data transfer is much faster. another thing is the speed of the DVD reader.
