Everyone who was sitting by me had tons of comments and I just got "Good"

Your professor spent more time helping the others by correcting their mistakes. When your paper hit the mark there was nothing else to say. It's faint praise, but still better than lots of criticism.

Well, whenever I have few comments and everyone else has an entire essay it means I had next to zero grammatical errors while everyone else had more. Generally, getting a 'good' probably means it's not bad, so your professor didn't have any criticisms.

i think it means that its a very solid paper with not many mistakes, but didnt come across as being a novel argument or as a very difficult argument to make

my guess would be that you didn't work very hard on it, got an ab or a b, and are a good student

Your followup statement IS the answer to your own question. "Good" is just "barely an adequate" response.
