Economic Powers?

What countries are going to be the dominent economic powers by the middle of this century?

No one knows. Good guesses are those who are already in power: US, EU and Japan. After that it is a guessing game: China is a good guess. Other countries with population and location advantages are: India, Argentina, less likely: Brazil, Russia, Iraq.

Countries with oil will continue to have oil, but rarely do these nations build further industry with their wealth. Saudi Arabia, Venezuala, Nigeria, Russia and the like will all remain wealthy, but fairly tied to single industries.

Note: "Economic Power" is hard to define, so I'm taking it to mean big GDP at least relative to nearby nations. You could also define this has being the home to many multinational corperations.
