Nah. I'd let him wear it all day to prove how ignorant his family is.

No. Unless it is blatantly against the school's dress code. I work in a school in New England and I can't imagine sending a kid to the office for a shirt with just a flag on it. If it were my kid I would have serious issue with that and go in and question the teacher about it. With the principal present.

I don't know...is it in their hand book that you can't wear anything signifying a confederate flag?...If so...yes...if no...and I didn't think it was appropriate....I guess the right step would be to try and get the hand book changed stating it wasn't allowed....

I would, same if he showed up wearing a swastika. But then again I don’t live in the south so I have no idea how socially acceptable this is to hicks.

No! Freedom of speech should apply to all kids as well as adults. I find it offensive that kids can wear shirts depicting weirdo rockers, dope plants, foreign affiliations, and many other obnoxious messages, but are prohibited from wearing a shirt depicting a piece of history.

Depends.
What is the dress code?
Where do you live?
How old is your son?
What is the ethnic make up of your school?
Does your son have a reputation of any kind at his school?
Why did he choose to where that particular shirt?
Why did you let him wear it?
Is he trying to make a statement?

Yes. My students wear uniforms. That's against the dress code.

Why don't you use this as a chance to help him understand authority and how to respect it--rather than get all "my child can do no wrong." He'll need to deal with authority of one kind or another all his life, and you won't always be there.

You bet I would because I would bet there's something in the school dress code which prohibits it
