First of all, to some of the other answerers who like to call attention to their status, classy old money people do not call themselves the "richest...in the school." Secondly, Abercrombie and A&E and Hollister are NOT preppy. I don't know how to emphasize that more. It's obvious that anyone who would say that they are are either noveau riche (new money) or don't have any money at all and want to pretend they do. REAL PREPS wear Brooks Brothers, Lacoste, J. Crew, J. Press, Vineyard Vines, etc. Although you don't see too many black girls wearing real prep clothes, I don't think there is anything wrong with it. It just shows that they have class.

Whats wrong with a black girl wearing abercrombie. If a black girl is preppy, you think there trying to be white? Whats that supose to mean all whites are preps!? Its clothing, its style, its fashion, it does not determine who you are and the way you act. Im black and love abercrombie. Im the richest girl in the school. And I act "me"!

"Trying to be too White" is one of the worst types of racism you can have. It holds back Blacks from participating in all the things that the majority of Americans enjoy. Blacks make up only about 15% of the American population, if you think that is the ONLY culture, you are really ignorant of what is going on around you.
Are classical concerts, stage plays, musicals, museums, art exhibits, cultural fairs (which are NOT exclusively Black) all things which are TOO WHITE, therefore something to be avoided.
I have often noticed at events considered "TOO WHITE" there are few blacks, but people of all other cultures and races in large numbers. What's up with this "TOO WHITE" don't you know there's a whole world out there, and you are welcome to join in...or limit yourself to the "hood".
The stereotypical Black is known for liking nice clothes and dressing up, so what's the big deal about Blacks wearing expensive clothes??

That is a stereotype and a generalization. Clothing is about style, preference, and attitude, not about the color of your skin. People don't just fit into one mold and have to wear one brand because of their ethic background. Anybody can be a preppy, goth, emo, etc. regardless of race. Besides, I don't see Abercrombie, A&E, or other companies complaining about certain people wearing their clothes. Stop stereotyping and let people be who they want to be.

I think that you are a racist and if a person wants to wear nice clothes it does not matter the color. I get so very tired of Neanderthals on here who think that nobody but their own race is good. Try to spread a bit of love instead.

I find most so-called "preppy" people to be stuck up. End of.
Of course, there are the good ones, who are nice, and treat people like people.
I dont care if you wear Hollister, Abercrombie, Dickies, Tripp NYCs, or if you walk around nice, It's whats on the INSIDE!
