It did on Mercury, so why not the gas giants??

the sound of all that gas being released would be frightfully loud and sound something like this- riiiiiiiiiipppppppoooooooott bap baap bap pop!!! not to mention the terrible smell...yucky

The gravity of the gas giants keep the gas from escaping into space. The only reason why Mercury lost its atmosphere was because it is so close to the sun that solar winds essentially destroyed it and the gravity was not enough to hold it in place

The gas giants are a lot colder, so the gas molecules travel a lot slower than on Mercury. And the giant planets are so much more massive that their gravity is a lot stronger than tiny Mercury.
So both these effects keep the gases in place.

Same reason the gas (atmosphere) here on earth, you, and everything you see does not escape into space. Gravity holds it all to the surface of the earth. Gravity also holds all the gas in the gas giants together.

Its held in place by gravity just like the atmosphere around earth is. Gas giants aren't gas all the way through. They have solid cores.

Gravity pulls on it and keeps it from escaping. And we don't know if gas giants have solid or liquid cores.

The gas giants have more mass than Mercury, and so more gravity. It doesn't depend on density.
