I was hoping to get some suggestions about some good places to have a wedding reception in the Southeast area of Michigan (Troy, Rochester, Birmingham, Utica, etc). I'm having such trouble finding good ones!

Thank you!

How about the Royal Park Hotel? Its pretty fancy.

You can look at places like theknot.com and also ask on craigslist.

Good luck!

Here are a couple lower-price (meaning banquet hall type facilities) places:

Club Venetian in Madison Heights (it's been remodeled recently) it's quite small though, it'd be a good place for 100 people or less. Not as classy as below...

Petruzello's in Troy and The Royalty House in Warren are both elegant-type places... lots of wedding experience there.

The Mayflower Meeting House in downtown Plymouth has a nice small town feel and a huge dance floor (if that's a priority)... don't know about the food though.

Hi,

First, congratulations! You really should confirm the venue quick as good dates are normally taken quite fast.

Consider to check online bridal sites like brides.com and theknot.com as they would have many wedding planners plus venues that you can consider.

I'm also planning my wedding and i'm having 2 receptions, 1 is Hong Kong (less than 2 weeks from now and i'm still not on DIET yet), and another in June in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

I've only been to Detroit once, so i'm unable to list out exact venues for you. Consider not just hotels, but probably also your themes, is it going to be garden theme with outdoor tents, or exquisite dining at a fine restaurant?

Best wishes,

Hello,

I worked in banquets as a bartender for 5 years. Both of the clubs I worked at were very nice.

Twin Lakes in Oakland, MI (on the border of rochester.. just take rochester road up past buell)

and Cherry Creek in Shelby Twp., MI. (off 24 mile just east of van dyke)

Good luck!

I almost forgot to add...these clubs are both good if you want a nice serene setting where you aren't going to look out the window and see any houses, other buildings, or cars. Both have visible water/ponds out back and a beautiful/serene setting.

Twin Lakes is my favorite as far as the setting and the looks of the club, but Cherry Creek's chefs/kitchen staff/banquet staff seem to stick around longer and are more experienced.

I know the Detroit Zoo in Royal Oak rents out the Wildlife Interpretive Gallery (where the butterfly house is) for wedding receptions. I have been to one there and it was pretty cool.

your home or Burger King. either invite less people to the reception, or increase the budget. 300 people to a reception is crazy. i had half of that at my wedding and we managed to feed everyone.
