I have seen the youtube videos that show how to download videos onto your PC. I have been successful at that; however, I want to be able to use and splice the video for my own creative purposes. Can anyone offer some help in this arena?

yes and no.

If you have been successful at downloading the videos that are steamed threw a flash player, then you are more then aware that the file format the video is in is .flv (flash video file)

To edit such a file you will need a working version of macromedia flash (demo https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=flashpro&loc=en%5Fus )

hope this helps
