If I asked someone” why are you being racist for? Is that the same thing as calling them racist?

In my opinion its not, it’s like saying to someone why are you acting stupid for. You know they are not stupid but they are just acting that way.

Me and my friend broke up because of this and she says that I called her a racist. She called all Muslims “Pakis” I know she’s not racist but I did not agree with what she was saying. Do you guys agree with me or is she right? Just need to see whose right, if im wrong then I owe her an apology.

I see what you're saying and I'd say you're right. She isn't actually racist, but what she's saying is generally considered offensive and she either think so or doesn't realise.

You've not reason to apologise, but it might be best to do so anyway. She's clearly upset at the thought of you thinking her racist. Best to brush this matter under the carpet and go back to being friends - it's not something you want to fall out over.

You are right in what you say .But the thing is when some one hear the word racist and they are not they get offended.Say sorry to her being humble don't cost nothing .Then put your view across again this time without using the word racist

no I think you're right - youre correct in what you're saying about idle comments such as being stupid or whatever - I dont think you owe her an apology - but being honest I dont see why ye fell out over something so trivial in the first place!

Perceptions are the most deceptive things. Both of you have viewed it as per your individual perceptions. Analysis kills. Just say you are sorry and she will be back to you. Try it, with a Lot of feeling and sincerity and see the difference. God Bless

i think its a bit of both really, this conversation has been blown out of the water, not worth loosing a friendship over that. i would say sorry for what you said but didn't mean to offend her and she should say the same. people can take things the wrong way.
Good luck

I think you were right to say that to her. You owe her no apology and i wouldn't want to associate with someone with opinions like that.

If you ask someoine 'Why are ypou being racist' it implies that you think they are.You would not ask someone 'Why are you eating that orange' if they were not eating an orange, would youi?

It may be that they are not ALWAYS racist, but you are certainly accusing them of being so at that moment.
