Double check by right clicking on the icon by the clock, selecting 'view available wireless networks' and make sure you are connected to YOUR network router and not a neighbor's.
If you are connected correctly, right click again on that icon, go to status and click support. see if the ip address listed is something similar to your other one. It should start with 192.xxx.xxx.xxx for example 192.168.0.102. If the number doesn't look right, click on repair and see if that fixes your ip address. you may need to restart your computer, too.
Also, check the router and make sure that you don't have extra people accidentally logging into your router and taking up all your dhcp ip addresses.
That is where to start anyway! Good luck!

I'm assuming you have set up your wireless network(you must have some form of high speed internet, not dial-up)...you need to re-enter the IP address and make sure that it is proper. Once you get that entered properly, and use the repair option and are still having connectivity problems, then I would try relocating the wireless router or exchanging it for one with a different frequency. I had a hard time at my last apartment complex b/c there were other routers in the building and had to exchange it for one with a different frequency. Things such as cordless phones and remote control cars can scramble the signal as well. Also, slight shift in location can really increase the signal--moving it higher can make a world of difference. Good luck, if you have more problems I would call a computer technician to help you.

if your looking to connect to your home computer, you would need to be at home, next to your computer and then connect the two either with a ethernet cable or with a router.
If your just looking to connect to a network, try connecting to another wireless access point, or disable/enableing your wireless. Make sure you try restarting as well. If nothing still works for the internet, then go some place that you know that has working wireless (ask a friend or somthing) and try it there to make sure that its not that certain access point that is the problem.
If all else fails, you can try reformatting your computer, that fixed that problem for me once, but I would suggest this as a VERY last option.

G'day
What was just said is spot on. At the moment you proberbly have a Modem or even a modem router. What you need to do is go out and purchase a wireless router (Or a wireless modem router if you want it all in one). Plug the wireless router into the current modem. You then need to set up a wireless local area network. Then do a search for the network and conect it. A wireless router starts about 70AUD. You may want to check out this website.
Best of luck

the most effective way to connect to another computer it to use a cable instead of using a wireless connection. It is much easier to use. From their you can play around with the 2 computer, in some cases you may have to configure the windows or your operating systems security features. If you are trying to use transfer the files from the home computer to the laptop then you can use the windows file transfer wizard located in the accessory folder then in the system's tools folder.

You need to have a wireless motem or a air card from a vendor like Verizon or Sprint. Any one of these options needs to be purchased and programmed into your laptop.
