I'm just a bit older than you and I still read things like Goosebumps and The Babysitters Club. Other novels I'd recommend is The Giver by Lois Lowry, The Rag and Bone Shop by Robert Cormier, and Among the Hidden by Margaret Petterson Haddix. These three books are stepping into a pg-13 boundary, but nothing too adult. The Giver is very good. I loved it. The way Lois just used the flow of her writing to captivate readers' attention. The Rag and Bone Shop by far is my favorite. I absolutely positively loved it. The ending was so unpredictacle, and those are the kind of books you need to read. Amonmg the Hidden is also a different genre of writing. I loved all three of these books, so this is what I'd recommend.

When I was in 5th through 9th grade I liked to read the Sweet Valley High books, but that was in the 80s. I know they are still around and I don't think they are dated so you might enjoy them, especially the super thriller editions
