Depends on how much time you want to spend with it.
Cat if you want something more independent. Dog are great, they are usually more interested in you and being around you. not saying cats are not attentive, they are happy to do stuff with out your attention.
Both can be found at humane society or rescue place. But just be aware that they might be there for a reason. So be careful of what you choice. Find out any bad habits, like biting, chewing or such. Just so you know what you are going to have to do to make it work for the both of you.
Sometimes there are ads in the paper for free pets, because someone is moving and can't take it pet with them.
Happy pet shopping.

i've got had one among those family individuals pets, i like my chins, they do no longer scent, they are exciting to computer screen and don't could be walked. yet, they do choose outing of the cage (I study on a similar time as they play) and a few are only into being held or snuggling. the biggest subject I definitely have is calling a solid individual to computer screen them on a similar time as i'm long previous. They do could be verify on on a daily basis and given clean hay, water and nutrition. the different issues are: they are little poo machines and on a daily basis tidying around the cage is needed, I definitely have a chair mat below the cage and sweep up on a daily basis, and that they've an prolonged existence span than a typical rodent meaning an prolonged dedication to them.

It depends on what you mean by "great". If you dont want to spend in the pet store, you can consider adopting a pet. If there are no adoption centers in your area, you can pick up a cute cat on the street, many of them are hungry and cold and pitiful. Be sure to clean them and visit the vet to check for diseases or worse, rabies. ^_^

A dog is the best pet in the world. They don't talk, but give you all the love in the world. They can be the sweetest creatures, and they are always there for you and keep you company.

I have a baby alligator lizard my boyfriend caught for me. Her (i'm just guessing on the gender) habitat is simple, she eats crickets only once or twice a week (or more if she starts looking around for food), and gets fresh water every day. she's entertaining and low maintenance. hermit crabs are good too, they require a little more upkeep but you can buy starter kits for them. (just make sure you research proper care of whatever pet you choose--alot of pet stores dont provide you with adequate information....)

Get a froggy, they are pretty low maintenance, and you'd just have to search for things to feed it, and put together a nice place for it to stay..
Or possibly a turtle, most likely wouldn't find one in your backyard, but they are awesome pets, they aren't hard to take care of, and are fun to play with, just make sure it's not a snapper had one of those myself, boy are those mothers mean, but mine was pretty cool..
Good Luck!....

Cats are amazing pets, same goes for dogs. Adopt them for free from an adoption center, try researching one near you.
