I have a 1987 Rx-7. it still runs great. I think what people do not know is you need to turn an Rx-7 in for a major service on the rotary every 40,000 miles. It isn't very expensive. Most people who do not know that...might drive it into the dirt. Ignorance isn't always bliss.

If you get a brand new rx8 and get it 'checked up on' 2 or 3 times a year at a MAZDA dealership, then your good to go. I've got an 87 RX7 with over 220K on the original build and it still purr's. They're a load of fun, and you'll defiantly love it if you buy one...

Good luck!

I have a 88 Rx7 conv they are great cars high maint if you buy one take it to a Mazda garage first and spend the $80.00 to have it checked it will save you big bucks for repairs later keep eye on oil injectors they run on oil injected into rotors very important item to check.the 8,s are better improvements made.and make sure you have a good mechanic close

upkeep on any rotary engine is so annoying.... rotary engines are high maintenance needing to be reco'd quite often, I love rotaries just they are a ***** to run

they are still worth it
