Taking semen into the mouth is safe, as is swallowing semen, unless the semen has a sexually transmitted infection in it. Keeping semen out of the mouth is clearly the best way to avoid such a risk of swallowing sperm.

Unprotected oral sex can put both giver and receiver at risk of sexually transmitted infections such as; cytomegalovirus, gonorrhea, hepatitis B, herpes, human papilloma virus (HPV), syphilis, and, rarely, chlamydia and HIV.
It doesn't taste like chicken, but do expect something warm and salty.

Semen Therapy is the practice of swallowing the ejaculation of a healthy man, three times a week or more, for the health benefits.

Semen is a natural source of proteins, vitamins, minerals and human specific components. Health building elements: Selenium, Glycoproteins, Testosterone, Blood-Group Antigens, Spermidine (a catalytic enzyme), Fructose, Zinc, Vitamins B12 and C.

The donor must be healthy: The man must not have STDs (Sexually transmitted disease) or a blood borne contagious disease. He must not have had acute long term exposure to poisons, heavy metals, radiation or intravenous injections.

The receiver must not be allergic to semen, sensitive to testosterone or have cancer tumors that could contact concentrated ejaculate (due to prostaglandins).

Semen Therapy helps reduce the risk of getting cancer, acne etc. It's good for you and him. If you are giving oral sex, not just as foreplay, but you are going to give him a b.j., he will want to ejaculate in your mouth, have you swallow his semen and keep his penis in your mouth until his erection passes.

Swallowing healthy ejaculate won't cause any harm - but how do you know it is healthy? Unless you and your partner have both had HIV tests and plan to be monogamous, you are risking various STDs, including HIV transmission.

Wow, what is this , 1985? You can;t get HIV from oral sex.
Is it ok? Well, that depends on if they have other STDs.
As far as disease-free semen, there is no problem.

Oh-- and the protein thing is total BS. Semen is almost all carbohydrate & cholesterol.

A wise man once said that "Mean People Suck." Oh wait, that was a bumper sticker. On another car it said "Nice people swallow." Just be nice.
