ok, the three angle of a triangle are 5mm, 9mm, and 7mm. I need to find out if the 3 angles would make an acute/right/obtuse triangle.

You can do trial and error with a ruler and a scrap piece of paper for this.

First, draw a line that it 9mm long. Or, to make it easier, 9cm. The units don't matter. 9 inches if you want. Just "9".

The "9" should be the hypotenuse of your triangle since it is the longest side.

I drew mine on the bottom of the paper since it's easier to draw the other sides.

Now, let's take the side that measures 5mm

Draw it connected to the left side, straight up and down.

This is a right triangle.

From the right side, see if your 7mm side will connect *exactly*.

No matter how much I try, a 7mm side just *will not connect*. If I take the 5mm side and bend it backwards (to make an obtuse angle) I still won't be able to connect.

Therefore, that 5mm side will have to come at an angle lower than 90, and so will the 7mm side.

Answer: Acute angle.

I had this same problem a while back...It confused the heck out of me...

After HOURS of asking around, I finally learned that it was an ACUTE angle...

I hate angles with every fiber of my being.

haha hope it helped?
