I am stuck on a level in my final fanasty 12 playstation 2 game. Help.?

I going after a sword and i can't get into the place all the doors are locked. I don't know what I am doing wrong or if I don't have something that I need to have to open the doors.

You need to wear the nethicite and touch the pedestal in the middle of the room.
