It is not wrong of you to want to...trust me, I know!! I'm 36-weeks and would like to try some home remedies because I am SOOO ready to see my baby girl but will not for fear of harming my unborn child. In fact, my doctor wants to induce me next week because of my gestational diabetes, and even that, I'm weary of. I think when the baby is ready, he/she is ready. It might not be much longer, so keep your chin up! Congratulations!
P.S. The only home remedies I know that are safe unless told otherwise by your doctor are walking, nipple stimulation, and sex. Please, PLEASE stay away from all that other stuff (i.e. castor oil...bad bad way to go into labor from what I've been told).

I would wait and talk to your dr first. I know you are uncomfortable, I was with my second and went right up to the day before my due date, even though we tried all the old wives tales! My dr did strip my membranes at 37 and 38 weeks, her suggestions not mine, because my first child was 9lb even. I am almost 18 weeks into my third pregnancy, and I am sure when I get to your point I will want to try things again too! Please do stay away from the Castor Oil unless you have your drs permission, that stuff can do nasty things to you, and the violence of the vomit and diarreah is usually what sends you into labor, so only do so with caution! Good Luck though, you will have that baby when it is ready to be had!

I believe that babies who aren't born yet, especially if the mom has been pregnant already, aren't READY to be born. So, I do think it's wrong to induce labor so early. Maybe a week early. If your babies truly are bigger, just talk to your doctor and see what his/her opinion is. I've heard of lots of women induced several weeks early because they were just sick of being pregnant.
Also, unless you're close to delivering on your own, home remedies are very unlikely to work. Sex is really the only one that can induce, but it only works if you are very close to starting on your own.
Just hang in there!

Well, first of all, subsequent babies aren't always bigger than the one before, so...
And second of all, I don't think it's wrong to WANT to try some "home remedies," but it would be wrong to ACT on many of them.
If you are SURE of your baby's gestational age (i.e. you know that your due date is actually correct, not +/- 2 weeks) then try: walking, rocking in a rocking chair, sitting on a balance ball, and sex, since none of those will be harmful if your baby and your body aren't ready.
Stay away from stuff like castor oil, etc, though, OK?

You can try some induction methods but you need to keep two things in mind:
1) You are risking a preterm baby. Some babies just aren't ready at 37 weeks.
2) Likely they won't work as they usually only work when the baby is ready to come.

I had my 3rd baby 7 months ago. I thought it was the worst pregnancy of all. Bloody terrible. One of the midwives told me to have a tablespoon of cod liver oil. It will give you the runs, which makes you go into labour. I didn't try this myself but I now people that have and it works. And hard sex. No it's not wrong to make yourself go into labour but I would hold off for a couple more weeks. At least 1 anyway.

Think of it this way...Is it wrong to want to risk the health of your baby in order to induce labor at 37 weeks because YOU got pregnant and now 37 weeks later don't WANT to be pregnant?

If you deliver anytime prior to the end of your 38th week, your baby is considered premature and can have health problems as a result of being born even two weeks early. I know (I've had three) that those last weeks can be all but unbearable, but you need to think of your baby's health and well being. Plus, you can try all the home remedies you like, but unless your body is ready to give birth, it's a waste of time. Good luck to you.
