There are 4 possible causes:
1. Do you like to turn on your hifi system or other systems with the engine off? Yes, dont do that it will drain your battery. No, see Q2
2. Do you have a power amp installed and also with many electrical/electronic accessories installed in your vehicle, and usually turn them on while driving?
Yes, will drain off your original rated battery - you need to change a bigger capacity battery and upgrade your alternator. No, see Q3
3. Your so-called 'new' battery may be faulty, if it is still under warranty, send it back to check and replace
4. Check the drive belt, is it loosen. Yes, tighten it. Too loose a belt will not drive the alternator properly and resulted in low electrical output. No, see 5
5. Check the electrical connection is proper connected. Get a voltmeter, check the voltage when engine is running and with the headlight turned on - meter should read 16.5V. Any other readings, you need to adjust the voltage regulator. Nothing but below 12V, replace alternator. Get a rebuilt one, pay a little bit more is worth to face all the problems again.

Most likely the cause is either a loose belt that drives the alternator or a defective alternator. Take it to a shop to find out the answer.

several answers...could be you purchased a battery with a bad cell, or you could have an electrical problem, drawing current from battery when car is not running, or you could have a bad alternator...how to check...first take to a shop and have them check alternator to see how many volts its putting out....have them do a draw test also...remove battery and have it checked..leave it for several hours...tell them to check it to see if volts drop when nothing is hooked up to it.. if battery and alternator check out OK...then you have an electrical short somewhere that is pulling currect..

First make sure that all the parts were hooked back to the battery correctly; secondly, you may need a new alternator [that would be my first choice] or starter.

your alternator may be shot and you have to get another one. thats what happens the alternater is what recharges the battery while running but if its shot its just going to suck the battery life out and then you have to recharge it...i suggest to get one from a junk yard and then take it to a auto zone or advance auto parts store for them to check it for FREE but the junk yard is alot cheaper than the dealership
