Rent DVDs of 80's movies and play them on your computer. Most PC-based DVD players have a feature that allows you to take screen shots.
You can also try finding fashion magazines from the 80's on eBay. Old issues of GQ or Cosmo should go pretty cheap, if they're available.

As girls growing up in the 80's we tried to dress like Madonna did then so you can look at her old pics and I agree, the thrift store is probably the best place to go. Here's a few websites for you....

Hmm... I think early Full House and Family Matters were made in the late eighties.
