it is not a specific age. once you have given your baby every single step one baby food(each one for 2-3 days or even a week depending how concerned you are about allergies.)then you can start on step 2. then the same thing with the step 2 (make sure you dont miss any of them, like the meats) and go on to the step 3's. by the time i got to the end of step 2's with my baby she started rejecting the baby food and started wanting table foods. she started with cheerios once she was picking up teeny things with her pointer finger and thumb and also sitting up properly.she was on step 2 and about 7 months at this point.have fun!

I started my son on stage 1 foods at 4. 5 months. He is 6 months now and has moved onto stage 2. My pediatrician said that the difference between stage 1 - 2 is minimal, but the jump from stage 2-3 is more drastic so that should wait until he is at least 9+ months. Then after stage 3 works well for your baby you can start introducing adult food, but the major concern is the consistency (choking) and making sure that your adult food isn't seasoned very much. Babies need plain food for quite some time. Don't use salt or other spices until they are much older. Make sure that your baby is still getting breast milk or formula in their diet too... the baby foods are important, but so is the milk!

Stage 2 is the same as stage 1.......thin, no lumps.
I started giving my baby the state 2 that were just 1 or 2 ingredients when she was 5 months. By 6 months she was getting ANY stage 2. and my 7 months I had her on ground table foods (she hated stage 3).
You can give them stage 2 when you have given them all the ingredients (or all but one) so you can monitor for food allergy.

Once she's tried all the stage one foods (introduce only one new food a week). Then try the stage 2 foods, but make sure she's only trying one new thing at a time (ie, don't start out with "blueberries and strawberries"). Save strawberries and corn for last, because they're high-allergenic foods. Then you start meats the same way as you did stage one foods.

keep introducing a new food every few days....
but don't start the the stage 2 until about 8-9 months
from 0 - 8 months, your baby's primary source of nutrition should be breast milk/formula

actually the way that we found out with both of our kids, was that they started to eat it all up and were still hungry. so basically no matter what docs say its up to your little one.
