First of all, shaveteam, go ahead and sterilize your self. When you have finished that, could you do me a favor and rectally derive your head.
Now for the question, people do acnolage paintball as a sport. The NPPL and NXL are the controling athorities. and as for the person that asked how would people watch it...are you kidding you idiot? how did the 50,000 spectators at the Huntington Beach open watch it? or the 90,000 spectators that were at the Miami invitational? they have netting that protecs them. Have you guys ever been to a real field or do you just play in your back yards?

Yes paintball is a sport. What defines a sport? How about referees, a standard set of rules, professional and amateur teams and tournaments as well as an entire industry supporting millions of players. Sound pretty convincing? Well it should. Paintball is not considered a sport by many people because most do not realize what it entails. This brings up the problem us paintballers call mainstreaming (or making paintball understood to the general public like other sports such as football and baseball.) Many people in the paintball industry are trying to accomplish this through magazines and even attepmts at a national television show.
A certain degree of physical fitness is required to play paintball at the pro level, much more than say golf or bowling. These teams also devise strategy and practice coordination of team players in carefully executed movements, very comparable to basketball and football. Some say it isn't a spectator sport, but if you have ever watched two pro teams duke it out on a super air ball field then you know it is exciting as any other sport. I've played baseball and football. While playing baseball is fun watching it can be like watching the grass grow. Football, while it takes a great amount of physical talent and strength, requires little on the field thinking (this is not an insult to us football guys.) Paintball on the other hand requires split second decision making as well as awareness of what is happening and thinking of how to take advantage of the situation, there is no time out for the wimps. For the most part I have been describing higher levels of paintball. But what about recreational paintball, an even better example. Paintball is the first physical team sport to cross the gender boundry. Men and women can play together, rec, amies or pro. I have seen people of all ages play. In fact I have regularly seen a young boy and girl (ages around 8 and 9) play at a local field. It is a sport for all sexes, ages, and ability levels. From all of these aspects my personal opinion is that paintball is a sport.

Basketball was first invented by Canadian, Dr. James Naismith in 1891! That is 116 years ago!
Paintball started in 1981 when Daisy (the BB gun people) started making paintball guns.

Paintball a sport? The only people that play paint ball are skaters and juvie-ds. You are shooting paint at each other. Wow, what should we do? I know lets cause each other pain!!! If any sport should be reconized it should be fencing, a sport that had existed for hundreds of years.
