Cujo was the scariest movie I've ever seen. Mainly because it could actually happen. I don't really have a favorite horror classic....they're all great. Generally anything from Steven King is great.

The Cabinet of Dr.Caligari. It's terrifies you on a mental level, and is considered by many to be the first horror film ever made. The only place you'll ever see it is at a film museum, but if your a true fan of horror, then you should really try to see it. Even though The Cabinet of Dr.Caligari was silent and made with primitive filming techniques, it's still one of the most frightening movies ever made.

Though the effects, and even some of the acting, hasn't held up over time, "The Exorcist" scared me more than any other movie ever has. Today it just looks cheesy.
I will say that for years after watching any "Halloween" movie, I kept imagining that Michael Myers mask in the dark corners of my bedroom.

Lost Highway had me on edge the entire time I watched it, as did "Rabbits". They weren't meant to be horror films, but they are so strange that I was uneasy and squirming the entire time. Check them out. As far as horror classic, I enjoyed Halloween and Evil Dead 2 the best.

The Omen with Gregory Peck and Lee Remick.
Scarier than that is The Exorcist, a movie I have no plans whatsoever to watch. I have some personal experiences there and have no wish to trivialize those with a movie.

The Birds
I was a kid when I saw it, and thought the ones at the playground would attack at any moment. Alfred Hitchcock was the best!
