I have an '01 Grand Prix GT and my Coolant Temperature Sensor isn't working. I know how much the sensor costs but I was wondering if anyone knows how to change the sensor and if it is very difficult?

Ok, the coolant temp. sensor, is located right at the thermostat housing...carefull, you have 2...one is a sensor, which regulates the thermostat, tells computer when to cut on cooling fans and the other is a sender...which goes to the temperature guage on instrument cluster...either way...buy the part...when vehicle is cold...remove sensor...of course coolant will come out, but quickly put new one in...also remember to add coolant back to recovery tank, unless you lost alot.. the add to radiator... be sure not to trap any air bubbles or this will give false reading...run car and make sure the cooling fans cycle. don't need to buy any books, this is simple..if you have trouble..let me know...

It is not difficult. You need to go to the auto parts store and get a Chilton's manual for your car. It will show you exactly where it is and how to change it.

Good luck
