Get the parents something they need, something practical, the babies won't know any different so you might as well help out the mother/father.

Gift cards are always great. Give one each a gift card to Target, Babies R Us, Baby Gap, etc. The card should be at least $30. Good luck!

no no no - not money. Lemme see -
If you're on a budget - soft, squishy books are good. Bath tub toys are good. Blocks are good. Plate sets are always fun for kids, with favorite characters and such.
A little more costly, but always fun, are things the kids can sit on and they can either scoot with their feet or parents can push. My son had a little wagon-type thingie that had a handle so it could be pulled, the seat opened for secret stash and he could sit on it so he could scoot - or I could push him. He loved it.
Gosh - those were the easy days at 1!!!
Go to the toy store, look around for age appropriate stuff and I guarantee you you're gonna see something that you think: "WOW ! THAT"S COOL."
just make sure its age appropriate.

Just get them both little outfits. Im certain they probably already have a gazoodle of toys. Kids can always use more clothes. You dont have to spend a whole lot, just go to the childrens section of Wal Mart or somewhere and grab a couple outfits for them.

Bright and alert toys are the best for babies maybe a stuffed animal that sings a song or the ABC's. what ever you get make sure it is the age level for the babies and is not hard or small! at this age the babies are learning so get them something to expand they're mind! And also at this age gender does not matter. Remember bright and joy full!

Music. Music is always the answer. You can find lullaby cd's etc. by Fischer Price at walmart in the baby dept. My all time favorite is Kenny Loggins' Welcome to Pooh Corner. It might be found at Best Buy or Cicuit City.
Another good gift for 1 year olds is footed P.J.'s.
