The American presence in Iraq has got to end, but as Arlo Guthrie put it, "If you want to end wars and stuff, you've gotta learn to sing louder than THAT!" SO, where are all the voices? About two out of three Americans want troop de-escalation....Again, where are the voices?

JHoff, I am glad to see you are apparently honoring your subjectivity
with an authentic attitude, though I am not quite sure what your point is...As for myself, I know where I stood when Bush started the war (and it wasn't quite five years ago), and my reasoning was then and is now, you don't "shock and awe" a country which has weapons of mass destruction....ergo, you can deduce I was skeptical of the weapons claim to begin with. I have always been against this engagement.

I'm right here...
I'm 14 and I even know there is some point to this war...
Politics and the media lets the truth get lost...
Think of your feelings about the war about 5 years ago or have you forgotten...
I read the comments above mine and I don't agree...
I care more then most about the world...
Its the average American that doesn't...
I have learned a lot in my short time on this earth...
One thing is that if we all loved a little more there would be less hate...

no draft - a bunch of loudmouth punk kids say they they want the war to end, but with no personal stake in it they just sit around on their lazy asses whining, waiting for soemone else to fix the problem. the only people in the current generation with an ounce of courage and motivation are the ones in iraq right now.

If I've learned anything about young people after my seven years of teaching freshman English (college), it's that they are concerned about one thing: themselves.

There are a rare few that have any clue what's even going on in their own city, let alone across an ocean.

It is the single most frustrating thing about my job.

All I have to say in response to this, is that much of America's youth today doesn't have a clue what makes a democracy work.

It's mainly a lack of teaching, and a lack of understanding what is actually going on. Also, this generation is very de-sensitized to war, violence, and oppression.

One of the Military's tactics to try to get people to join, is to make it look like an adventure, and to try to buff up their weaponry, that KILL people, to look like Video Game equipment.

They are all at home watching MTV and getting updates on Anna Nicole Smiths baby.
People wont even vote-much less protest.
Start drafting them. Maybe that will wake them up. America needs discipline.
