You need to make sure the car seat is reclined backwards so her head wont fall forwards because if her head falls forwards (along with her throat muscles being relaxed while she is sleeping) she won't get very much oxygen. Lots of babies have died that way.http://www.babycentre.co.uk/baby/safety/carseatsleepexpert/

LET YOUR HEAD FALL ALL THE WAY FORWARDS AND YOU WILL KNOW WHAT I MEAN

It's not bad if the baby sleeps in the carseat. Hey, if they sleep at all, you're fine. My 6 week old sleeps in her crib in her boppy. The elevation helps her a lot. You could try that, or put a phone book under the mattress to elevate one side of the crib.

Put her carseat in the crib, lol. My brat went through a phase like that around that age. She's 9 weeks now and last night and so far tonight(fingers crossed ya know!) she slept in her crib. I actually used to safety pin a blanket over the activity bar and the seat of her bouncer chair because it was back at a better angle and I didn't have to worry about her head falling forward and choking her. It's actually the close quarters she's wanting. Are you still swaddling her? I thought my baby didn't like to be swaddled and around 3 weeks old she suddenly wanted to be swaddled all the time. Good luck!

I've heard of this happening to other mommy's with their babies. I don't think it's a problem, but she's not going to be able to sleep in the car seat all the time! I'd just get her real tired and set her in her crib with some blankets or something as a support/ fake car seat feel. Talk to your pediatrician about it if you are concerned about it. I hope this helps you out.

just make sure she is on a safe hard place like on the floor or in the crib. Do not put tons of things ( blankets) in the car seat. you know it will be very soon and she will have to sleep in a bed. It is fine for now but they out grow the car seat fast. Just make sure you know you are putting off the inevitable..other than that you are doing great!!

No. She may get a flattened head; also she needs to be able to move around and wiggle. Also she needs to be used to sleeping in different places for YOUR future sanity. I would start putting her in the crib now for at least one nap a day--use a pacifier, anything to get her to sleep, but make sure it's in the crib. Even if you put her in there already asleep (which I am usually against) at least she will have the chance to sleep flat on her back once a day and get used to it.

New information suggest that children should be in car seats only to ride. The position they are in in tthe carseat can cause death.

Plus too many people leave babies in those infant carseats ALL the time. Babies need ro be held. They need to have human contact. Invest in a sling or wrap or pouch. (off of ebay or make your own no sew wrap. http://www.wearyourbaby.com )

Did you know babies that are carried/held/worn all the time are smarter than babies who spend all that time in those dang infant carseats? Or that in countires where mothers wear their children all day that they don't even have colicy babies!

She's fine. I'm a mom to 3 and they each had their own place they preferred to sleep. My youngest wouldn't sleep anywhere but her carseat or her swing. She is now 5 and healthy and happy. My oldest liked sleeping in her swing or her playpen. My son wouldn't sleep anywhere but his bed. Let her sleep where she sleeps the best.

I've heard of this happening many many times, and it's completely okay! I would just try to transition her slowly to her crib, or you'll have a rough time later on. I had my son beside my bed in a bassinet for the first few months of his life, and then started putting him in the crib for naps during the day, and then finally throughout the night. To be honest, I think it was harder on me than it was on him!! Good luck and congrats on your little girl!

My daughter also did that at the beginning because she was happiest there. I did read though that it is not so great for long periods of time because the spine is curved so I tried to put her into the crib for naps sometimes.
