I have the same problem... Like saturday, go to sleep like at 4...wake up at 8. But try not to sleep during the day even if you want to, just go do some activity so you don't fall asleep, and at 10:30, its not going to be long before you fall asleep...

At 14 yrs old alot of peopl have problems like that

I recommend buying Calmag. Its not medication, its just the vitamins Calcium and Magnesium, and is awesome for helping you go to sleep. Its also inexpensive. Also, dont use the computer, read, or watch tv for 1 hour before bed. It has been shown that these things make it harder for your brain to shut down and go to sleep. Stop drinking caffeine in the afternoon, and dont eat for an hour before bed. Try taking a bath or doing something else that relaxes you. The calcium/magnesium vitamins will make a BIG difference! I also dont recommend listening to music while trying to fall asleep. Even calm music stimulates the brain. Try getting a white noise machine, or turning on a heater or fan that makes a humming noise.

Sorry, but the magic trick is the same one I use for my 3 year old--you need 2 things.

A regular wake/sleep schedule (this means going to bed and waking up at about the same time every day--even on the weekends--bedtime and wake up time should not vary by more than an hour.)

a bedtime routine. A few things you should do everynight before bed. Like--take a bath/shower, have a cup of hot tea (decaf of course), lay out tomorrows clothes, strighten up bedroom, do a daily devotion, apply chapstick, spray pillows with lavendar scented spray, go to bed.

HAving abedtime rountine tells you body it's time to wind down and rest.

Also avaoid caffine and sugar or heavy foods (breads, cream, fried) before bed.

the trick to help you fall asleep :
1. 30 mins-1 hour before your sleep , eat. they say when our stomach is full our body tends to relax .
2.set your body clock . set a definite time for sleeping.
3. have a relaxing bedroom environment. bedroom should be clutter free
4. when you are already in your bed , breathe deeply and count your breaths to let your body relax

hope this helps

i am also fourteen it is four in the morning and i'm still up. what i recommend is to make sure that all electronics are turned off, your room is dark or you have a nightlight and an eyecover (darker rooms ensure better sleep), and you have a nice cozy pillow. you can read, draw, or do something else for a while. i draw whenever i can't sleep, and letting go of everything else in my mind and relaxing gets me sleepy.
