Also known as "hazard lights", the emergency flashers are normally operated by a red button with a lightning flash on it, either on the dashboard or steering column.
When activated it flashes the front parking lights and rear tail lights continuously.

Your emergency flasher has to actuate twice as many lamps as the turn signal flasher, so it has to be a separate unit.
It's just a little electrical gizmo small enough to hold in your hand and shouldn't cost more than $10 at any auto parts store. It's probably located under your dash.

Emergency flashers are usually activated with a button of some sort. You use them when your vehicle is disabled or stopped in an unsafe location, like the shoulder of the highway.

your 4 way flashers are controlled by a flasher just like your turn signal flasher, and it controls your turn signals, if your 4 way flashers aren't working you need a new emergency flasher .
