also, to get it fixed I would likely need it shipped, how much should it cost to ship this saddle a few states away?

Yes it can be replaced. You can ship your saddle Fed Ground. Cheapest I have found. Will cost about $30- $40, based on the weight of the saddle. You can go to Fed Ex's website and calculate cost. Good Luck

I would certainly think that any reputable saddle-maker could do that for you. You'd need to talk to him/her to find out about the cost, but I suspect it's a lot less than the cost of a new saddle!
