No doubt this is the Mavs year. They have strung together numerous winning streaks this year after a poor 0-4 start. With a year under his belt, Avery is a better coach. Dirk is having an MVP like performance. The pieces are in place with Josh Howard stepping up his game, as has Terry and Stackhouse. They have the best conference record, division record, and an absurdly unbeatable home record. And of course they have the best record in the league. They will steamroll through the Spurs and Suns in the Western Conference playoffs and straight up take the East opponent to school regardless of who it is.

I think Dallas.
They are hungry this year after last year's capitulation to Miami.
They are playing formidable basketball, only losing 5 times in the last 49 games.
Other contenders...
Suns - too reliant on Nash performing well... but the Dallas vs Phoenix Western Conference Championship is the series of the playoffs.
Detroit - will represent the East, a good mix, and now that C-Webber is playing well, very deep.
Miami - not even sure if they'll get past the 1st round! They'll have to get something before the trade deadline to have any hope. Shaq? Old, slow, unmotivated. Basically hanging around, playing 30 games a season until retirement. Was great, not any more.
Cleveland - LeBron's off at the moment, and with injuries they just don't have it.
LA Lakers - if Kidd goes there, a dark horse.
San Antonio - always a threat, write them off at your peril!

The Miami Heat will win the Championship again. Everything is going perfectly for the Heat. Pat Riley is coming back tomorrow. Shaq is back and healthy. Dwayne Wade is just Dwayne Wade. Kapono won the 3 point challenge at the all-star break. All of the pieces are coming back togetherfor the Heat. Not the Pistons, Mavs, Suns, and sorry not even the Nuggets will be able to stop them

The spurs. I'm a NET fan but every year the spurs keep quiet while and seem to make a run. Tony Parker is nice and Duncan can bank a three. I also would keep my eye on the Suns. I don't think they will win it because every year they are amazing in the regular season then they start to melt away. They relyon Nash to much and with him being out for a little while that might throw them off a little bit. They are on a 3 game losing streak with out him.

well the championship will go through Dallas. The only way someone will rob it, is if the referees sell the game (again) or if Dirk or J-Ho gets hurt! The bench is so deep that they will be able to over come other injuries as well. The addition of Devean and Buckner was great as they are good defensive presence on big guards and forwards. The most important thing that is burning these Mavs is the fact that they are pissed off! they are pissed of that no one ever gives them the credit! they are pissed off that people still doubts their abilities! They are pissed off that they lost their rings to the referees the last time around!

The Nuggets will struggle to make the playoffs, let alone win the championship. They are good, but they don't have what it takes. I hate to say it, but it's going to be the Mavs. I hate the Mavs, but nobody in the NBA can match them.

suns
their ability to score whenever they want will be enough to get them the trophy
the only thing to stop them would be if the pistons, who will be in the finals with them, play out of their mind defense and shut down nash & co.
