And with Russia now NOT the animal it was, that mantle seems to have been taken on by this other huge communist country with it's strange 'party line' on consumer and industrial growth has it not ?

China - this country seem to be consuming Earth resources like there going out of fashion - and as for the global warming issue - did someone forget to tell them smogs aren't a good idea ?

For example - relevant to the last two points I just raised - a new coal powered power station every 10 days I have heard - is that true ?!!!!

What does the 'smart money' predict is going to happen in the infancy of this new century for the West and the East?

They will certainly have something to say but it won't far exceed that. China's economy is highly dependent on the US, they've invested heavily in the US, and they do not have near enough natural resources to feed their industries. A war with the US would likely cause revolution in their western colonies and possibly along the coast where people have grown use to the advantages of individualism.

BTW, China is the number two economy in the world after the US or third if one considers Europe to be a country (EU is #1) but they are not expected to stay there due to corruption and sticking to too many communist principles. India is expected to surpass them in the not too far future.

Waaayyyy too many questions there, bud!

As to the Chinese coal plants, they will be building them at the rate of one every four days (!) for the indefinite future. Let's hope they use the latest smokestack cleaning technologies and/or switch some or all of them over to nuclear plants. That stuff is gonna be blowing east and guess which some of the countries are that are closest to the east of China?!?

I'm sure they will, but the US will not bomb Iran without UN support.
