In Jamaica, its even higher. But, they don't use gallons, they use liters. Do they use gallons in England?
To figure out the real difference in what we pay and what they pay, you need to find out if their dollar is worth more or less than ours, then, if they use gallons, you can make an honest comparison.
I live in Northern California, and the gas here is $2.79 per gallon for regular.
There is also the supply and demand factor; better known as "whatever the market will bear".
Great question! You get a star.

They come close to paying the true cost of a gal of gas. We have ruined the world, and the environment because of our cheap gas. We must maintain our control over the middle east and their oil so that we get our gas way below the true cost, true cost includes all of the environmental damage caused by the production and the use of gas. Our country would not be totally dominated by the automobile if we had not had cheap gas for decades, and it is still cheap. Because of cheap gas we have covered our country with pavement, filled our air with pollution and not created decent public transportation. We should be paying at least what the Brits are paying.
