i have been wearing tampons since i was 12 and i have used one up to 9 hours will no ill effects but most people will tell you not to....but i would say it is say to wear one....why would you want to wear a pad and feeling like you have a diaper on....those things are gross with all that blood and stuff sitting there and they make you stink as well. i would go with tampons and if you have little or no flow on one day then use the lite tampons for that day or night....buy a mulit pack of tampons then that way you always have the one you need

Be sure to read the instructions on your box (it sounds lame, but those warnings are important!). Toxic shock can happen when the tampon is in too long, but I have never heard of complications from having a tampon in when you are not bleeding.
If the tampon dries you out or irritates your vagina when you don't really need to use it, try going with a pad only.
Just be sure to change it out often, whether you're bleeding or not.
To be on the safe side, ask your gynecologist the next time you are in!

sure, but it is usually best to use tampons during the day and a pad at night. It doesn't really matter just make sure not to keep the tampon in for more than 5 hours even if there is no flow

My opinion is, if it is a light period, use a pad.
If it is a heavy period, use a tampon.
You need to change your tampon after six hours or you will increase your risk of TSS (Toxic Shock Syndrome).

is it heavy or regular becuase why not op for a panty liner. It's never really safe because of Toxic Shock Syndrome(leaving it in too long) so 8 hours of sleep is too long to leave one in

its not safe, or comfortable to use tampons unless your bleading...it should explane all this in the little "intruction manual" (lol) you get in the box...
