Frikkin DS baby! Kids love to interact with their hands, beyond the buttons. PSP requires so much attention and skill that it defeats the purpose of entertainment. A DS has immediate load time, has INCREDIBLE battery life, and the games are quick and fun. Girls don't carry PSPs. Trust me, she WILL get it stolen from her from a 17 year old. Plus she will get beat up. So go for the DS. It will make her more popular because of all its multiplayer features, and her classmates will most likely have DSs too.

Well, I'm a 12 year old girl too, so I like.. Animal Crossing - A great game, and since she likes simulation games, this would be a great choice. Sims 2 Castaways - If she likes Sims and Simulation Games then she'll love this. Super Mario 64 DS - There is a new Super Mario Bros game out, called New Super Mario Bros (Hehe) but to me, nothing beats this game. Super Mario 64 DS. She'd like it I think. I love the Imagine series too. The 4 of 'em are Imagine : Fashion Designer, Imagine : Pet Vet, Imagine : Happy Cooking, and Imagine : Babies. Ask her which ones she already has, and if she doesn't have them all, get her one of them. Sims 2 - Again, if she likes Sims and Simulation Games she'll absolutely love this. You play as a Sim who runs a hotel. There's different objectives and stuff to reach. I love it. New Super Mario Bros - As I said, I rather Super Mario 64 DS, but I do love this game too! It's addicting! Cooking Mam ( or Cooking Mama 2) - I love both of these games as you really get to use the stylus a lot. =) That's just some suggestions. Good luck! =)

a DS is better for 12 year old girls. If you get one DS for each girl, you should also get a link cable and maybe 2 of the same games or more so they can link them.

The DS is much better for younger children. The PSP has much more complicated games and the controls are a lot harder to master. The DS is designed for the younger generations and has much more parent approved games.

Nintendo DS, hands down. Plays DS games, as well as the huge kiddy lineup of Gameboy Advance games.
No contest.

Go with the DS Lite in Pink. Way more selection of games towards children and lower cost of games.

DS by far. I recommend Nintendogs, New Super Mario Brothers, Brain Age, and Animal Crossing.
