my besti swars blind i have a good singing voice and wonts me to try out for idol this year,problem is i think i suck. what should i do?

i think that you should pick some songs and see which ones you see good at then sing infornt of your friends to see what they think about you..

ok first of all take it from someone who has already tried last yr...pick a city that not like a real musical one..DONT GO TO MEMPHIS...i went there..along with 15,000 other people...also you should pick a song you like, but also shows the range of your voice without you getting cracky or raspy.... try a ballad or a soft rock song....it all depends on if your an alto, soprano, tenor or bass and who people say you sound like...im a shania twain/faith hill ....and you have to definitely swallow all your nerves and be able to sing in front of a multitude of people.....also be prepared to wait up 2 8 hrs or more for your audition...there is a stage you must pass before you get to paula, randy, and simon... its the producers....you go up cattle call style and sing a lil bit....but dont count on makin it thru....you either have 2 be REALLY REALLY BAD or WACKy or INSANELY good....
