I slammed the cage door down on my dwarf hamsters front paw,and it seems to be red and bluish.I was afraid it was broke at first, but she is walking on it and puts weight down on it.Could it be broken,or very painful and just a bruise?Help me!!!!!!!

Whether it's broken or not, there's not too a vet can do. I've had a few hamsters with injuries to their limbs and they will heal on their own. There are a few things that you can do to make things easier for her though. First, remove the wheel. Having the wheel in her cage will tempt her to run on it and that won't help her heal. Put her food in a low dish so she doesn't have to jump out of one. Remove anything in her cage that she can climb on. Climbing and jumping down will prolong the healing time for her paw. Since hamsters hold food in their paws to eat, offer her soft foods that don't need to be gripped as strongly as seeds. This would be scrambled eggs, spinach, tofu, uncooked oatmeal, etc.. Lastly, you should avoid handling her until she heals as well.

I think it maybe just bruised since she puts weight on it, just keep an eye on it and if it develops a knot, or swells a great deal, you might want to call and ask a vet about what you should do next.

If it still looks bad in the morning, bring her to the vet or call a vet and ask what you should do. If she doesn't appear to be in pain now, then she probably isn't. Just keep an eye on her and make sure she's acting normal.

It could be bruised, most likely if it is broken then your hamster would not put pressure on it.

I highly recommend you contact a small animal veterinarian and take it in nonetheless. It's better to be safe t han sorry.

Take it to the vet and stop being so aggressive when you shut the cage door. Handle your animals and their environment with gentle hands. I hope that your dwarf will be okay.

Don't worry it's just a bruise if she's walking round on it, it would heal anyway, hamsters are tough little critters.

nothing can be done, except to handle her gently for a few days, the vet cannot put a cast on it or xray it. they will only charge you for the visit
