Yes. They require 1-2 days per week of rest in order to achieve optimal performance. My uncle is a "top" weight lifter. He is the king and he knows everything, so trust me.

They may take a day off here and there, but even though they should have a 24-48 hour rest period between working a particular muscle group, they can still work out every day, just as long as they are working a different group of muscles from one day to the next.

Absolutely, yes. To achieve maximal results, lifters must take at least 2 days off for each muscle group, with no exercise (excepting maybe a bit of cardio). This allows time for the muscles to fully nitrogenate and repair.

Well, what they usually do , is do one day chest, one day legs, such as that , ect.

Each muscle group needs at least 24 hours repairation if worked hard enough.

So yes, they do take rest days, usually just on each muscle, but they never take complete breaks.
