Do you think it helps to catch predators?

I know everyone is entitled to their own opinion. HOWEVER, if anyone thinks that what Dateline is doing is wrong...then I believe these people to be of questionable character.

I couldn't care less who benefits from the "To Catch A Predator" show. I don't care if Dateline's rating go sky high or down in flames...anytime someone who attempts to contact an underage person for any illegal matter SHOULD BE CAUGHT!

For the person who says it's entrapment...well who the heck cares. These guys are trying to sleep with KIDS...I couldn't care less if Dateline or the Police hid in the crackers of every corner...if you attempt an illegal act with KIDS you should be caught and have the worst done to you.

There is no excuse for these people...stating entrapment for a reason is just plain foolish. If you contact a minor for sexual purposes and get caught...(in my opinion) you can call it whatever you want...wrong, entrapment, etc...as long as they go to jail I'm happy.

I hope Dateline continues to do this and wish other television networks would follow...congrads to Dateline and all the law enforcement people who throw these idiots in jail...

I'm beginning to think not. I think that Dateline is only doing this for the ratings and that they could care less about innocent people. I despise the vigilante tactics that Perverted Justice employs. Also, I feel that Dateline and Perverted Justice impede the law and that this kind of investigation is better left to the police. However, I am all for getting sick perverts off the streets, and into jail/treatment where they can't do harm to children.

I think that PJ's action is bordering on entrapment. I believe that while they have good intentions, their methods are questionable. Even if the chat is initiated by the suspect, if the -decoys- are the first to turn the chat sexual, it's entrapment!

No. I think it gives the internet a bad name. The internet is less dangerous then city sidewalks, or any other medium of the past.

Just because predators use it doesn't mean that kids are more likely to respond to a creepy IM then they are to a cute puppy and a mysterious guy with gloves and a black van with no plates.

Only to NBC. The first episode may have had some educational value. Since then, it has become sleazy and exploitative, feeding into an overblown, media driven frenzy. Nothing more than crude entertainment for an equally crude audience.

it's borderline entrapment but the circumstances seem drastic enough for you to disregard things like the constitution and laws.
