Yes, it is under the car. Technically, it's no biggy - you need to disconnect the wires (the trickiest part), and remove two bolts that hold the starter itself. It's hard to screw up, and the most important part is to support the car so that it does not fall on you.

Forgive me, but if you have to ask if the starter is under the car, do you really think you ought to be changing the starter???????

Yes you have to get under the car to change it. And yes it is easy to change. But no you don't have to get under the car ask your WIFE to change so she doesn't have to listen to you cry & ***** about getting your little pinkies dirty.
