They are the same. In US, it's called gasoline but in England (and it's former colonies) it's called petrol.

Nope, I'm pretty sure that petrol is the UK/British version of the English gasoline.

Gas = American
Petrol = English

Same thing ( roughly) : what you put in cars to make them go....
