I can't say that he's an idol, but he certainly was a ground-breaker and set a pattern that many other artists after him followed. "Peggy Sue" is an absolute classic especially the way the drummer worked his tom-toms. "True Love Ways" is one of the best ballads ever written. "Maybe Baby" and "Oh Boy" are two more that really defined the Rock 'N Roll of the late 50's into the early 60's. The Beatles borrowed, especially Ringo favoring those toms and he influenced the Everly Brothers too. You picked a fine favorite!

I do! I love his music and the edge he brought to Rock n Roll. No one else can rock those thick rimmed glasses like Buddy Holly. He left us way to soon. Have you ever wondered how different Rock n Roll would be had that airplane never crashed?
Great Question.

My grandparents did, and I am 42. Maybe you should consider some alternatives for your idol in the near future.

pal Holly is the main suitable! i individually like him lots extra beneficial than Elvis, and that i choose he might have produced as lots music as Elvis did. i'm uncertain he might have been larger than the Beatles or Elvis, yet close! and that i'm no longer a extensive Ritchie Valens fan, yet I agree: he died too youthful.

He did AMAZING things and left us a large body of work--which is just incredible given the fact that he did at the age of 23 or so.
